Touring Australia: Galvans Gorge, Western Australia

Date Posted:10 September 2021

While we might be in lockdown, that doesn’t stop us from dreaming of the next adventure!

We’ve posted about Michelle and Darren’s awesome Australian adventure and as promised we’ll be sharing some of the amazing locations from their cross-country trek.

One to put on the bucket list is Galvans Gorge in Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges, Western Australia. It’s absolutely stunning!

This was a short stop for Michelle and Darren, but if they’d known how relaxing this little oasis was going to be they would’ve planned for a longer visit.

Only a short walk from the carpark, this peaceful and popular swimming spot features a small waterfall (seasonal, so not flowing all year round) and a lone Boab tree that seems to stand guard from the cliff above.  Just keep an eye out for the occasional croc!

Located in the Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges Conservation Park, Galvans Gorge is accessed from Gibb River Road and is about 14km from the Mt Barnett Roadhouse and around 290 kms from Derby.
